With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Hugh Edward Cassidy Jr., known affectionately as "Hughie," who passed away peacefully on October 2, 2021, at the age of 85. A native of Bogalusa, Louisiana, and a longtime resident of New York City, Hughie lived a full and remarkable life filled with love, laughter, and music.

Born on November 1, 1936, Hughie grew up in a loving and musical family. He developed a passion for jazz at an early age and became an accomplished saxophonist. Hughie's musical talent and infectious enthusiasm made him a sought-after performer, and he shared his love of music with countless people throughout his life.

In addition to his musical career, Hughie was a dedicated father and grandfather. He was fiercely proud of his children and grandchildren and loved spending time with them. Hughie's kind heart, warm smile, and unwavering support made him a cherished member of his family and community.

Hughie will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 57 years, Marie, his children Hugh Edward Cassidy III, Mary Catherine Cassidy, and John Patrick Cassidy, his grandchildren Hugh Edward Cassidy IV, John Patrick Cassidy Jr., and Marie Therese Cassidy, and his extended family and friends. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
